Group Manager – Base SW (Beta) @ Electrical & Electronics Infrastructure

Description of the position
The main purpose and mission of the group Base SW (Beta) is to develop and integrate our on-board base SW platforms. The group manager is the first line manager and the servant leader of three software integration scrum teams, in total 20-25 software engineers. The group has competence in software platforms (i.e. autosar and linux), software architecture, embedded software design and SW integration. The department practise agile way of working with continuous improvements, influenced by SAFe. The group is responsible for the complete life cycle, from strategy to maintenance which also implies that the group explores/uses both latest technology and tools as well as matured technology and tools.
The section management team, which you will be a part of, consists of the Section Manager/Global Technology Manager and seven more group manager colleagues as well as one SCT Leader, one Technology & Strategy Leader, two Release Train Engineers and two agile Product managers. It’s a global section with groups in Gothenburg, Lyon and Bangalore.
Your role will be to both lead technology and people. So on one hand to provide and retain skilled members to the scrum teams and coach the team members, as well as the teams, in the daily activities and secure necessary pre-requisites for a successful execution of our mission, and on the other hand take a technical ownership of the products delivered by the team, which implies participation in the complete chain from developing strategies to follow up maintenance of the delivered products, naturally with the support from the complete team.
You are expected to participate and contribute in our agile Program Increment planning sessions, retrospective meetings, scrum of scrum meetings, etc. You will drive development of processes, methods, tools and standards related to software platform development at the Electrical & Software Architecture department. You will also secure that the deliveries from the group is in line with applicable technology strategies and delivered according to stipulated processes, methods and tools. As a line manager you will also do salary settings, participate in developing the working environment, recruit employees and consultants. You communicate regularly to the group on performance, strategies and operations and perform all other administrative activities connected to managing the group.
Your responsibility is also to break down business plan activities and allocate activities to direct reports and secure competence development strategy. Together with the rest of us, you shall take an active role in moving Electrical and Electronics Infrastructure into an agile development organization that continuously fulfils the great expectations of our customers!
Who are you?
We believe this is a position for a person that has the ability to work under demanding conditions and to create a successful working climate. As a person, you have a broad software platform technical know-how combined with very good people skills, good communication skills and a strong belief and previous experience in working with agile methods. Some experience of supplier management would also be beneficial. You have a strong ability to inspire, develop and motivate individuals and teams. You are goal oriented and can take own initiatives and drive certain actions on your own. We expect you to have a multi-cultural mind set and proficient in the English language.
Required qualifications:
  • Master of Science in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Managerial experience from line and/or project/product management
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience from SW development, embedded or from IT
