Job Purpose

Maintain harmonious industrial relations with unionized workforce, implement company policies with respect to workforce management with the objective of ensuring maximum productivity and engage workforce within the limits of applicable statutes, company policies and budgets. Recruit and retain competent personnel.
Main Responsibilities
  • Managing, planning and review of corporate HR policies and processes relating to recruitment & selection, retention, employee development and performance management of blue collar workmen
  • Defining plans, policies and strategies for resource optimization at the industry
  • Ensure compliance to statutory requirements and implement measures to check and correct deviances if any on a timely basis.
  • Organize Culture & Employee engagement initiatives for Industry staff
  • Maintain skill inventory, identify competency development needs for blue collar staff, consolidate and support delivery of effective training.
  • Develop constructive relations with union in order to ensure harmonious industrial relations.
  • Lead collective bargaining negotiations and agreement with the union
  • Advise industry management team on union – management relations and coach leaders and line managers to effectively manage unionized work force.
  • Maintain necessary documentation and maintain compliance with applicable labor laws and social security regulations in order to ensure full compliance with statutory provisions.
  • Implement effective grievance handling mechanisms, educate technicians on company policies/rules & regulations, monitor discipline in the factory & promote Volvo Way, initiate disciplinary action against defaulting employees as per standing orders in order to ensure timely and fair redressed of employee grievances as per policy.
  • Represent the organization in all conciliatory proceedings
  • Liaison with the Government authorities on IR related issues and develop a good rapport and seek support and guidance whenever necessary
Required skills, experience and competencies
  • Professional qualification in Human Resource Management
  • Good knowledge of labor laws
  • 15-20 years of work experience in a manufacturing set up handling industrial relations and employee relations activities
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in dealing with employees’ union and wage settlements
