Engineering Instrumentation Technician

Summary:
Works as part of the Product Development team and under direction of engineering staff by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Set up and installs data acquisition systems on heavy duty trucks and in engine development test cells.
Applies knowledge of principles of diesel engine operation with regard to system electronics and instrumentation installation and repair.
Implements test specific instrumentation set ups and procedures.
Calibrates test instrumentation and maintains calibration documentation to ISO 9001 standards.
Troubleshoots and repairs pressure, temperature, analog and digital measuring instruments, electronic test devices and circuits within heavy duty truck chassis and engine development test cells.
Builds and modifies electrical harnesses for heavy duty diesel engines on chassis and in test cells.
Demonstrates mechanical and electronic abilities on bench work, in-field chassis work and in engine development test cells.

The successful candidate must have achieved the education and/or experience listed below and demonstrate an understanding of electronics, electrical, and diesel engine principles through written and practical exams.
Candidates with electronic/instrumentation experience from other industries will be considered.
Education and/or Experience:
Associate of Science degree (A.S.) in electronics or instrumentation, or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or eight years related electronic experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
*Equivalent military training certificate in lieu of an associate degree will be accepted
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic database software; basic spreadsheet software and basic word processing software, Microsoft Outlook and e-mail communications.
